DIY Pleated Lamp

Give an old lamp a completely new look with fabric! This easy DIY creates a beautiful pleated lampshade using just a few simple supplies.

Supplies:

Steps:

1. Make sure the lamp is completely unplugged, then cut and remove the power cord since this project will use a rechargeable light bulb.

2. If you would like to change the color of your lamp base, spray paint it and allow it to dry completely.

3. Cut your fabric into strips that are slightly longer than the length of your lampshade.

4. Fold approximately half of each fabric strip over and hot glue it down. This will give one side of each strip a clean, seamless finished edge.

5. Starting at the top of the lampshade, place your first fabric strip over the shade. Fold one end over the top edge and the other end underneath the bottom edge. Hot glue both ends to the back of the lampshade to secure the strip.

6. Continue adding fabric strips around the entire lampshade, slightly overlapping each new strip over the previous one to create the pleated look.

7. Once the entire lampshade is covered, add your rechargeable light bulb, attach the shade to your lamp, and enjoy your new DIY pleated lamp!
